Zadra
Description
Zadra opened at Energylandia on 22 August 2019 as the world's tallest hybrid roller coaster at the time, rising 62.8 m above the Smoczy Gród themed zone. It was designed by Rocky Mountain Construction with Vekoma acting as the European distributor, and it holds the distinction of being the first I-Box Track coaster built from the ground up rather than converted from an existing wooden structure. The total construction cost reached approximately 61.5 million PLN. From the station, a chain lift carries the train to the top of the main hill, where the track pitches into a vertical 90-degree first drop, accelerating the six-car train to 121 km/h. The 1,316 m layout then delivers three inversions: a Zero-G Stall and two variants of the Zero-G Roll. Peak lateral forces reach 4 G during the course of the 1 minute 50 second ride. Two trains operate on the circuit, each seating 24 passengers, giving a maximum throughput of 1,050 riders per hour. The I-Box Track system uses a rectangular steel rail profile mounted on wooden support structures, a combination that allows inversion elements while retaining the visual character of a traditional wooden coaster. At Energylandia the supports remain in a natural wood finish while the track itself is finished in dark red, both choices consistent with the medieval aesthetic of Smoczy Gród. The dragon-head train styling reinforces the zone's theme. When Iron Gwazi opened in the United States in March 2022 with matching height and a marginally steeper 91-degree drop, Zadra's records for height and drop angle in the hybrid category were equalled and exceeded; prior to that date it had held those records outright alongside the speed record of 121 km/h. Riders must be at least 140 cm tall to board.
