Description

Formuła, a Vekoma Space Warp model that opened at Energylandia on June 24, 2016, holds the distinction of being the first launched coaster in Poland. Rather than a traditional chain lift, an LSM launch system accelerates the two-train, 16-seat consist to 79.2 km/h in approximately two to three seconds, generating a vertical load of up to 3.8 G in the process. Leaving the station, the train turns roughly 45 degrees to the left and comes to a brief stop on the launch track. The electromagnetic launch fires, and the train immediately enters the first inversion: a left-hand sidewinder at 24.8 m. Exiting that element, it sweeps through a low 180-degree left-hand turn at ground level, crests a small hill where negative forces reach -1 G, then rolls through a right-hand corkscrew. A 180-degree right-hand turn follows inside a tunnel, leading to a banked rise and a second corkscrew to the right. One final left-hand turn and a short crest bring the train into electromagnetic braking before it returns to the station. Three inversions are threaded across 560 m of track in 46 seconds. The theming reinforces a motorsport setting throughout. The station and support structures are finished in red and white with black-and-white chequered accents. Figures of pit crew mechanics are positioned inside the launch tunnel, and smoke machines release a burst of smoke at the moment of launch, replicating the atmosphere of a race start. Formuła placed third in the European Star Award ranking of the ten best new roller coasters built in Europe in 2016, and ninth in the equivalent all-time steel coaster ranking for 2017. It is one of two identical Space Warp installations worldwide, with the second located at Fantawild Zhongmu in China.
