Dragon
Description
Dragon is a steel suspended family coaster built by Vekoma, operating in the Family Zone at Energylandia in Zator since June 2015. As a suspended coaster, the train travels beneath the rail rather than on top of it, making Dragon the first inverted roller coaster ever installed in Poland. The ride is one of 14 identical installations of Vekoma's Suspended Family Coaster 453m model, with copies spread across China, the United States, Vietnam, Australia, Denmark, and France. The 453 m layout runs close to the ground and close to the structure's support elements, with the train reaching 75 km/h and generating up to 3.5 G through its corners. A key sequence occurs just after the first drop, where the train passes through a tunnel built within the jaws of a large dragon's head, the centrepiece of the ride's theming. The tunnel is filled with smoke during each run. Two additional above-ground tunnels, formed by decorative elements along the track, appear later in the layout. The track itself is finished in green, while the support structure is painted blue. Riders must be at least 130 cm tall to ride unaccompanied, or 120 cm to board with a supervising adult. Each cycle accommodates 20 passengers. In the European Star Award ranking of the ten best new roller coasters built in Europe in 2015, Dragon placed 7th.
