Description

Kinderattraktionen is a collection of children's play elements spread across the grounds of EDELWIES in Neukirchen, Bavaria. The offering centres on natural materials, with many pieces crafted by hand from locally sourced black locust wood (Robinie), which ties them visually to the park's overarching forest theme. The spring animals (Federtiere) include hand-carved figures of a beetle, squirrel, beaver, wild boar, bee, dyke sheep, ladybird, and sabre-toothed tiger. The Schneckenzug, a snail-shaped play and seating structure built from lovingly shaped black locust elements, is designed for children from approximately two years of age. For active play, the Spatzennest offers a frame of climbing beams arranged to encourage balance and motor development in the youngest visitors, while the Kletternest "Spinne", a climbing net also made from black locust wood, builds strength and coordination. The Balancierpfad Stift und Pinsel is a low-to-the-ground balancing path shaped like pens and paintbrushes; its minimal drop height makes it safe even for toddlers. The Spazierweg Tierfährte integrates directly into the surrounding landscape. Children can study animal track patterns pressed into trail markers and attempt to balance on the bollards, turning a walk through nature into a physical puzzle. Two nest swings (Nestschaukel and Doppelschwingnest) accommodate several children at once, encouraging cooperative play and balance. The Hexenhaus, a small witch's cottage with a carved broom at the entrance and two interior seats, provides a setting for imaginative role play under a red pitched roof that also functions as weather shelter. Outdoor chess tables, each with two seats, offer a quieter alternative. A shelter structure measuring 4 x 4 m, built in a natural woodland style, sits among American oaks and serves as a retreat point within the park's elevated stilt-house village area.
