St. Bartholomä

·1

Description

A faithful replica of the famous St. Bartholomä church sits on a wooded island in a lake within Bayern-Park, recreating the iconic silhouette of the original pilgrimage church located on the shore of Königssee in the municipality of Schönau am Königssee. The replica faithfully reflects the building's most distinctive architectural features: three rounded domes and two onion towers. Visitors can take in the scene from the shore or observe it while riding the paddle steamer, where a sculpted fisherman trying his luck nearby completes the peaceful tableau. The original St. Bartholomä was saved from demolition by King Ludwig II, who ordered a thorough renovation of the deteriorating structure. Prince Regent Luitpold later contributed to its further preservation. Today the original church stands as a landmark monument that defines the surrounding landscape. The park's replica brings this piece of Bavarian heritage to guests in a quiet, nature-framed setting.
