Dießenbach

Description
Dießenbach is the left tributary of the Elisabethszeller Bach stream and has its source just north of the Edelwies park grounds. Its course runs predominantly through the park's own terrain, flowing southward through a ravine until it empties into the park's reservoir, from which it continues further south. For over 100 years the stream was routed through a pipeline; on a stretch of 660 m it has since been reopened and restored to its natural state, creating a habitat for protected species including the stone crayfish and the fire salamander. The address of Edelwies itself, Diessenbach 1, reflects the central role this waterway plays within the entire 146 ha complex.
