Speed
Description
Speed is a steel water coaster designed and built by Intamin, operating at Energylandia in Zator since April 2, 2018. The ride combines a traditional roller coaster structure with a water-based finale, placing it in a category shared by very few installations worldwide. At 50 m in height and 101 km/h, it holds the record as the tallest water coaster in the world, tied with Divertical at Mirabilandia in Italy, and the fastest of its kind globally. A 10-passenger boat departs the station along a descending channel, then travels a gentle left-hand slalom toward the main tower. A vertical elevator lift carries the boat to the top of the 50 m structure. From there, the track drops at a 45-degree angle, building speed down to the base of the hill. The boat passes through the first water section at the bottom, climbs a low hill, turns left, and then completes a full 360-degree right-hand spiral before plunging into a water channel that generates the second and more forceful splash effect. The ride reaches 3 G during the descent. After the water brakes the boat, it returns slowly to the station. Speed received the Park World Excellence Awards Europe for best water attraction in Europe in 2018 and placed in the European Star Award Top 10 water attractions in Europe in both 2019 and 2020.
