Intamin Amusement Rides
Description
Founded in 1967 by Robert and Reinhold Spieldiener and Alfons Sako, Intamin Amusement Rides is a manufacturer of roller coasters and amusement attractions headquartered in Schaan, Liechtenstein. Over more than five decades of operation, the company has designed and delivered a total of 195 roller coasters worldwide, spanning a broad spectrum of ride types and engineering approaches. Intamin's portfolio covers an exceptionally wide range of coaster categories, from family and children's installations to some of the most technically demanding rides ever constructed. The company's Wooden Coaster line dates back to 1981 with American Eagle at Six Flags Great America, while its Accelerator Coaster platform, which uses hydraulic launch technology to propel trains to full speed within seconds, has resulted in 17 installations globally since Xcelerator opened at Knott's Berry Farm in 2002. The Blitz and LSM Launch Coaster format, first realized with Maverick at Cedar Point in 2011, has since become one of Intamin's most widely deployed models with 22 units built. The company has also pushed the boundaries of scale and height classification. The Giga Coaster format, defined by a height exceeding 300 feet, was introduced with Millennium Force at Cedar Point in 2000. Intamin followed this with the Exa Coaster category, represented by Falcon's Flight at Six Flags Qiddiya, scheduled to open in 2025, which is designed to surpass all previous records in its class. Additional platforms in the catalog include the Mega Coaster, Zac Spin, Multi Inversion Coaster, Water Coaster, Spinning Coaster, Multidimensional Coaster, and several family-oriented formats, reflecting a manufacturer whose engineering output spans virtually every segment of the roller coaster market.
