Gipfelstürmer
Description
Gipfelstürmer is a Gerstlauer Shuttle Family Coaster that opened in June 2011 at Freizeitpark Ruhpolding, set within 5 hectares of alpine forest in the Chiemgau region of Bavaria. The ride operates as a shuttle coaster, meaning the single 7-car, 14-seat train travels the 170 m of physical track in both directions, covering approximately 360 m of experienced track length per cycle. The sequence begins with the train pulling backwards up a steep incline via a chain lift and booster wheel lift system, climbing to a height of 12 m before pausing briefly at the top. It then launches forward, descending a total of 36 m at up to 50 km/h, passing through the treetops in repeated passes before rolling back to the station in reverse. The surrounding terrain of the park reinforces the ride's mountain character, with natural elevation changes lending additional context to the layout. The ride accepts riders from 100 cm in height and from age 6 without an accompanying adult. Children under 6 may ride with a guardian present.
