JuraPark Krasiejów
Description
JuraPark Krasiejów operates at the intersection of active paleontological research and visitor entertainment, occupying a site in Krasiejów, Opolskie region, where hundreds of bones belonging to prehistoric amphibians and reptiles were excavated. The park has been welcoming guests since 2010 and belongs to the broader JuraPark network, which also includes facilities in Bałtów and Solec. The geological and scientific foundation of the site is central to its identity. The Krasiejów locality has been documented in scientific literature since the 1970s and gained international recognition for its Late Triassic vertebrate fauna, most notably the labyrinthodont amphibian Metoposaurus and the early dinosaur relative Silesaurus opolensis. A dedicated paleontological pavilion protects and displays fossils in situ, while active excavations remain accessible to visitors, allowing direct observation of ongoing fieldwork rather than a purely reconstructed experience. Beyond the excavation areas, the park incorporates what is described as the largest dinosaur park within the JuraPark network, featuring life-size replicas of prehistoric animals set along walkways through the former clay pit terrain. A further dimension was added in 2014 with the opening of the Park of Science and Human Evolution, a multimedia museum documenting the period following the extinction of dinosaurs and tracing the key stages of human development through interactive presentations. The current catalogue registered in the database includes two roller coasters and three additional attractions. In 2014 the facility was awarded the Gold Certificate of the Polish Tourist Organisation.
