Description

Built in 1995 specifically for Bayern-Park by Bootswerft Heistracher, the Raddampfer is a 12-metre paddle steamer that carries up to 40 passengers on a leisurely circuit of the park's lake. The vessel made its maiden voyage on the Chiemsee before being transported by articulated truck to its permanent home in Lower Bavaria. Two electric motors drive the large red paddle wheel, giving the boat a quiet, low-emission character well suited to its relaxed pace. During two laps of the lake, passengers pass a series of themed landmarks arranged along the shoreline: replicas of Schloss Neuschwanstein, an island featuring a recreation of the chapel of St. Bartholomä, Schloss Linderhof with its landscaped gardens, and a statue of Bavaria. The boat weighs approximately 7,000 kg and sits at a draught of around 40 cm. Parents travelling with pushchairs or prams can leave them at the lakeside boarding area before stepping aboard.
