Kamerunschafe

Description
Kamerunschafe belong to the group of hair sheep breeds. The rams are horned and carry a distinctive mane around the neck. The breed typically appears in brown or black, in single-, two-, or three-color patterns. Adults weigh between 40 and 50 kg and, when kept in human care, live for 10 to 12 years. In the wild, Kamerunschafe feed on herbs, grasses, leaves, buds, and shoots. At Bayern-Park, their diet follows a similar pattern, supplemented with hay during winter months along with occasional treats. The animals are social by nature and move and play together as a group. They are also notably fertile, capable of lambing up to twice a year. Each pregnancy lasts just under six months and produces one to three lambs. The young are nursed by their mothers for approximately half a year. Visitors passing the enclosure are frequently greeted by the sheep's bleating, as drawing the attention of passersby appears to be a favored activity. The animals show enthusiasm for food at any hour of the day.
